Feminist Leadership Starts Here: When Women Lead with Agency, Everyone Rises
At Woven Agenda, we believe leadership grows from lived experience, especially the experiences that are too often silenced or ignored. […]
Woven Agenda Foundation is women-led feminist organization based in Blantyre, Malawi, established in 2024. The Woven Agenda Foundation is rooted in African feminist thought and practice, working to advance the rights, dignity, and bodily autonomy of women, girls, and gender-diverse people. We challenge systemic inequalities sustained by patriarchy, violence, silence, and economic exclusion by building power with communities most impacted, not just speaking about them. Our work centers survivors, particularly those pushed to the margins, and affirms their right to safety, voice, and access to economic justice.
Woven Agenda was founded by a collective of feminist thinkers, activists, caregivers, and community leaders who recognized that patriarchal systems continue to undermine the rights and potential of women, especially those most often left out of decision-making: single mothers, LBQ+ women, survivors of violence, adolescent girls, and women in rural communities.
Our work challenges both the visible and invisible forces of inequality, from under-resourced schools to gender-blind agricultural policies and healthcare systems that ignore the specific needs of women and girls. Through intentional, bold programming and sustained partnerships, we are building a Malawi where care work is valued, feminist leadership is nurtured, and communities thrive through collective action.
